The US Open has entered its second week and there will be a new name on the men’s singles crown. A series high-profile exits mean both defending men’s and women’s singles champions are out of the tournament already.
Novak Djokovic was defeated last week in what he described as one of the worst performances of his career. Coco Gauff is also out after being beaten by Emma Navarro in an all-American clash on Sunday night.
There is an opportunity for British star Jack Draper to go far and he could reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final if he beats Tomas Machac today.

Nick Kyrgios shuts down Taylor Fritz claimNick Kyrgios has shut down a claim that Taylor Fritz is not highly-rated in American tennis circles by revealing that the US Open star opts to snub Arthur Ashe.
Theories have been raised that Fritz is being snubbed for Arthur Ashe action, with the likes of American colleagues Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton and Coco Gauff.
Journalist Jose Morgado put forward the view that Fritz is ‘less hyped’ than other local players.
However, Kyrgios insists that is not the case and that Fritz actually prefers to play on Louis Amstrong over Arthur Ashe. The 29-year-old quote-retweeted Morgado’s tweet and said: “Incorrect. Requests that court.”
American former world No. 1 Andy Roddick confirmed that stance, responding: “He’s repeatedly said he prefers Armstrong and requests Armstrong.”

Coco Gauff disrespected by childrenCoco Gauff was inadvertently disrespected by a group of children during her US Open defeat against Emma Navarro.
Gauff struggled to find rhythm during the match and ended up with a staggering total of 60 unforced errors.
The American failed to find perfection with her serve and a group of children sensed as much too, filing down to the front of the crowd at 5-3 in the deciding set to prepare to ask for autographs.
It was a sign that they believed the match would soon be over.
“Coco’s a little unnerved,” commentator Chris Fowler said.
“When you’re at the end of a match, the extras will let the kids come down with the giant tennis balls to sign, a signal that they believe this could end soon.”
Former champion Chris Evert added: “The guards should prevent that from happening.”
Gauff allegedly stared down the security guards, who came to tell the children to return to their seats.
They were soon back, though, as Gauff was broken on serve and the match was over.

Jack Draper handed caffeine banJack Draper admits he has been banned from consuming caffeine by his coach at the US Open.
The Brit is reaping the benefits from overhauling his lifestyle and stands on the verge of his first Grand Slam quarter-final.
Draper listed elements of his lifestyle he has had to change, which has seen him rise to No. 25 in the world. He is now carrying Britain’s mantle following the retirement of Andy Murray.
And he revealed that coach James Trotmann has taken away the caffeine to improve his fitness struggles.
“My coach doesn’t want me taking too much caffeine,” Draper laughed. “It sends me too far over. For now, it is de-caf cappuccino.”
Draper faces Tomas Machac in the fourth round today.
