Novak Djokovic Drops Major Hint As Players

Novak Djokovic is in a race against time to play at Wimbledon with the Serb recovering from the knee surgery he underwent just a few weeks ago. He suffered a meniscus tear at the French Open earlier this month, forcing him to go under the knife, but it seems he is ready to make his return to action at SW19.

Djokovic will undoubtedly be among the favourites if he is passed fit to compete at Wimbledon this year in spite of his injury concerns. However, the likes of Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will fancy their chances of sealing glory for themselves.

Andy Murray is also yet to confirm whether he will be involved at Wimbledon after having surgery on a back injury last weekend. The 37-year-old, who sustained the issue at Queen’s Club, has already said that he will make a decision as late as possible to give himself the best chance of recovering in time.

Early confusion disrupts Wimbledon drawThere is some confusion at the Wimbledon draw after what appears to have been a miscommunication between the referee and the graphics team.

Mirra Andreeva appeared on the screen instead of Beatriz Haddad Maia, causing a knock-on effect which resulted in players being drawn into the wrong lines.

After a quick discussion, the confusion seems to have been dealt with and the draw is back underway.

Emma Raducanu in good spirits ahead of WimbledonEmma Raducanu has confirmed that she is feeling good as she prepares to return to Wimbledon for the first time since 2022.

The young Brit has struggled with injuries over the last few years but appears to be firing on all cylinders after proving her fitness at Eastbourne.

Speaking after her quarter-final defeat to Daria Kasatkina, Raducanu said: “I wasn’t tired at all. I was feeling really good.

“I think I just dealt with the circumstances badly. Yeah, I was very inflexible in my approach. That’s my honest reflection of the match. But physically, I’m in a really good spot.

“I’m fine. I just need to learn to be more willing to adapt. I hadn’t really played many matches in that level of wind.”

Andy Murray hints he will only play doublesAndy Murray has suggested that he is more likely to play doubles than singles at Wimbledon as he continues to recover from a back injury.

The Scot has been given a wildcard for the doubles event alongside his brother Jamie but is yet to confirm if he will be fit enough to take part.

Discussing the situation, Murray said: “This is not clear-cut, where I am 100 per cent going to be ready to play or there is a zero per cent chance that I can play.

“That is the situation. I would say it’s probably more likely that I’m not able to play singles right now.”

Female players ‘worried’ about strict ruleGenie Bouchard has revealed that her WTA colleagues tend to get ‘worried’ about wearing traditional Wimbledon whites at certain times of the month.

Players have been required to wear all-white clothing at SW19 since the 1880s but women are allowed to wear dark undershorts as long as they are not visible beneath their white skirts.

Speaking on the Not Alone podcast, Bouchard said: “I know some of the girls on tour also get a little worried when it comes to Wimbledon because you have to wear white.

“t just makes you a little more self-conscious if you’re… you know. It’s tough, but now they’ve changed the rules where you can wear like a different-coloured undergarment.

“Your ball shorts under the dress can be a different colour, but that’s a super-recent rule.”
