Ronald Koeman rages at ‘awful’ Dutch playersNetherlands boss Ronald Koeman has launched a scathing attack on his players following their surprise defeat to Austria.

The former Everton boss did not mince his words, saying: “We started very badly. We did not defend well. We were not aggressive.

“There was a lack of pressure and we lost the ball as well, particularly at the start so it was really very bad. The players ran a lot but not in the positions so it was awful, very bad.

“We did not control the match. The match against France was reasonable as a team, but today it was appalling.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘probably devastated’Gary Neville believes Gareth Southgate’s treatment of Trent Alexander-Arnold at the Euros would be enough to leave him ‘devastated’.

The Liverpool right-back, who has recently been deployed in midfield, was the only player dropped for last night’s goalless draw with Serbia.

Speaking on ITV, Neville said: “I do want to mention Trent Alexander-Arnold. I know it’s a big boy’s game and you can be left out of a football match.

“But I do feel that this is the best right-back we’ve ever produced by a million miles in terms of in possession, and he’s now sat on the bench wondering: ‘What the hell’s going on?’.

“He’ll probably be devastated.”

Anthony Gordon says England must do betterAnthony Gordon is under no illusion that England are yet to hit their stride at Euro 2024.

Speaking after his cameo appearance from the bench against Slovenia, he said: “Our aim was to make a statement and correct the performances we’ve had in the last two games.

“I still think we’re in that place. We’ve still got to do better. Luckily for us we’ve topped the group and we’re through, which is the most important thing.

“I just think we can do so much better, that’s the problem. We’ve got such good players and we train so good every day. It’s just not clicking.

“Hopefully in the coming games it will because we really need to start dominating games and attacking teams.”

Speaking on beIN Sports, the former Sky Sports presenter said: “Harry Redknapp is sat in Dubai tonight. Give him a call. Do you think he’d be on a plane tomorrow morning? Too right he would.”

England players savaged by French pressTwo England stars were given lowly ratings of 3/10 as French newspaper L’Equipe issued a damning assessement of their display against Slovenia.

Kyle Walker was singled out as one of England’s ‘flops’, with the report stating he ‘practically missed everything he did’.

Jude Bellingham was also handed a 3/10 rating while Conor Gallagher received the same treatment.

The highest rating for an England player was just 6/10, given to Jordan Pickford, Declan Rice and Harry Kane.

L’Equipe have gained a reputation for giving harsh verdicts on players but it is hard to argue with their view of England’s dire display.
