Bryson DeChambeau will be aiming for another big windfall at LIV Golf Nashville this weekend. Fresh from his second US Open victory, the next stop in DeChambeau’s schedule sees him return to the LIV Golf Tour.
‘The Scientist’ kept his cool on day four of the US Open, while Rory McIlroy came up painfully short. DeChambeau’s reward was a major-record £3.4m ($$4.3m) payout as the PGA looks to keep pace with the lavish money offered by the LIV Golf Tour.
LIV Golf Nashville will be the ninth of 12 events in the breakaway league’s regular season, offering £3.16m ($4m) to the winner as part of an overall $25m prize pot. DeChambeau reportedly accepted a £100m ($125m) deal to join the LIV Tour and previously joked that he was struggling for cash after using his nine-figure payday in a string of investments.
Speaking in 2022, DeChambeau told the Country Club Adjacent Podcast: “What’s cool about it though is that I’ve already put it [the money] in places that make sense. Whether it’s my foundation, or real estate, being able to build a multi-sport complex, or taking care of my family, taking care of what we’ve got going with our content creation Regecy, numerous other things too. So, it’s already moved. I’m again broke.”
Forbes listed DeChambeau as the sixth highest-paid golfer of 2023, with his earnings boosted by two LIV Golf League wins, netting him a combined £6.3m ($8m). The 30-year-old will hope to continue his US Open success with another hefty windfall in Nashville as the three-day event gets underway on Friday.
While DeChambeau’s main priority will be the singles event, the two-time major winner will also be competing as part of Crushers GC, alongside teammates John Catlin, Paul Casey and Anirban Lahiri. The winning team could pocket another $3m of the $25m pot. This all feeds into DeChambeau’s outlook on his career, which he explained when discussing his choice to join the LIV Golf Tour.

“One of the things for me it was a personal business decision,” DeChambeau said. “For me I run and operate my golf as a business as well as wanting to be one of the better players in the world.
“Second off, it was going to give me more resources and opportunities to reinvest in my local community, in Dallas, and back at my original home in California. I can do things for junior golf tours, improve my foundation, and also build the multi-sport complex I’m going to build here shortly in Dallas.”
He added: “It will also give me more time to rest, the ability to have weeks off and recover my body in the way I want to so that I can be prepared to give it my all when it comes time, not be depleted every week and continuing to get depleted over the course of time.
“So that was one of the things. And then the last part is I saw that first event in London and how much fun everybody was having. That was exciting to me. And I wanted to be a part of something like that.”
