Trailer for Dune: Part TwoAs the joint Hollywood actors and writers’ strike continues, studios are weighing up whether or not to delay certain movies to avoid them hitting cinemas without promotion from stars.
And now Warner Bros have announced the release date delays to some of their biggest movies of the next 12 months, while others are staying put.
The first major casualty as had been rumoured is Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2.
His epic adaptation of the second half of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel features an A-list ensemble cast from the first film led by Timothée Chalet and Zendaya, while Oscar-nominees like Austin Butler and Florence Pugh join the sequel.
Originally set for release on November 3, 2024, Dune: Part 2 will now arrive in cinemas on March 15, 2024, which has had a ripple effect on other films.

As a result, Godzilla vs Kong sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has been pushed back from March 15, 2024 to April 12, 2024.
The monster movie stars Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry.
Similarly, this release date change has moved the new Lord of the Rings movie from that April date all the way back to December 13, 2024.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is a prequel to JRR Tolkien’s epic trilogy, set 183 before the events of The Two Towers.
The animated movie stars Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan, with Miranda Otto reprising her role as Éowyn from Peter Jackson’s live-action movies.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros is keeping its three big December 2023 movies in place and they are Wonka (December 15), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20) and The Colour Purple (December 25).
