Five protestors armed with flares stormed the green at the Travelers Championship, just as Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim were preparing to take their putts. The police swiftly tackled the intruders amidst the ensuing chaos.
Scheffler was leading by a single shot, with Kim only 10 feet away from a birdie that could tie the game, when the protestors managed to evade security and sprint onto the green. They sprayed green smoke across sections of the grass before being apprehended by security.
Other protestors brandished red smoke as they were detained by the police. After several minutes of confusion, all the protestors were handcuffed and escorted away by security, while the crowd chanted “USA! ” and booed.
The actions of the protestors did not affect any ball or marker, allowing Scheffler and Kim to resume play shortly after the intruders were removed. All Scheffler could do was nod and smile as he watched the police handle the protestors, his attention fixed on the unfolding drama.

Kim, on the other hand, stood in stunned silence, shaking his head at the scene around him. Once the situation had escalated, the men began to strategise how to continue, with Kim flashing a smile at Scheffler as they walked towards their clubs.
Protestors were seen sporting shirts with the slogan: “No golf on a dead planet.”
They were met with boos as they were ushered off the course by police and security staff.
This marks the second disruption at TPC River Highlands in just two days. On Saturday, play was halted due to unsafe weather conditions.
In a separate incident, two spectators were hospitalised after a lightning strike hit a nearby tree. A third individual, who was also close to the strike, declined medical attention.
At the time of the protest, Kim was trailing Scheffler by one stroke, standing at -21 while the world No. 1 was at -22.
Despite the interruption, Kim managed to sink his putt, mere feet from a red mark left by the protestors.
The competition concluded with a playoff, which saw Scheffler secure his sixth PGA Tour victory of the year and his 12th career win at TPC River Highlands.
