Scottie Scheffler has guaranteed himself another seven-figure sum to add to his record-breaking 2024 earnings. And that could yet more than double before the year end if his fine form continues.

Golf’s world No.1 put the cherry on top of his six PGA Tour triumphs for the season with gold at the Paris Olympics at the weekend. With only a miniscule amount of prize money on offer, it barely added to his significant net worth.

However, Scheffler is already on $28,148,691 (£22,115,582) earnings since January – and that will soon be supplemented by an $8m (£6.2m) bonus as he’s guaranteed to win the top prize from the Comcast Business Top 10, reports the Mirror.

The PGA’s partnership with Comcast, which began in 2021, sees a $20m (£16m) pool distributed among the top-10 finishers in the FedEx Cup regular season standings. And no one can topple Scheffler now.

With two $20m purse events remaining, the FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship, Scheffler has ample opportunity to increase his lead. Both have a top prize of €3.6m (£2.8m).

Then the season-ending Tour Championship, where the top 30 players will compete for the title of FedEx champion, will follow. As top seed, Scheffler gains an advantage on his rivals – starting the tournament on 10-under par.

Given his current form, it wouldn’t be surprising if he walked away with the top prize of $25m (£20m). And then there’s also the the Player Impact Program to take into account.

Launched for the 2020/21 season, it uses factors such as internet searches and social media reach to determine who’s had the most positive influence on the tour. Having faced backlash for being a glorified popularity contest, the prize pool has been slashed from $100m (£79m) for the top 20 players to $50m (£39m) for the top 10 – the winner pocketing $10m (£8m) of that.

Overall, there’s still a whopping $42.2m, or £33.2m, available for Scheffler. He’s already smashed his own record from the 2022/23 season for money won in a PGA Tour season, which was previously $21m (£16m), but it could reach an eye-watering amount.
