Pirates of the Caribbean star speaks out on how he could make surprise return (Image: DISNEY)
Seven years after the release of the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, another is currently in the works.
It’s unclear if Johnny Depp will reprise Captain Jack Sparrow in the next instalment, but there’s always the possibility.
Meanwhile, Captain Hector Barbossa star Geoffrey Rush is open to a comeback.
Like Depp, he featured in all five Pirates movies and was resurrected at the end of the second movie Dead Man’s Chest in a surprise twist.
At the end of Dead Men Tell No Tales (Salazar’s Revenge in the UK), he sacrifices himself for his daughter Carina, but Rush reckons he can still return for more swashbuckling adventures.

Speaking with Collider, the 73-year-old said: “I wouldn’t let them do that in the last film because I said, ‘I sacrificed my life for my daughter.’ You can’t just suddenly go, we’re going to bring him back.
“But I did come up with a good idea, which is classically based. Hamlet’s father comes back as a ghost, and I just said, ‘I can come back…'”
Pirates of the Caribbean 6’s release is TBC.
